Garnier Moisture Match pt2

Last post was a mini review of the sample I got of the newly released Garnier Moisture Match range. This time I'm doing the "Protect & Glow" sample, which has SPF 20 and light reflecting pearls that give you that "just-got-back-from-the-beach glow, without the tan lines".

I thought that this would be great with it being spring now and that as it's (supposed to be) getting warmer, one should have a glowing face to go with it.

I'm just gonna say straight out that I hated this stuff. I really did, I threw away what was left of the sample as I will never be using it again.

It supposedly has an "oil-free" texture... it hasn't. It is very much like sun cream, and I know that's not due to the fact that it has SPF 20 as I've many products with SPF that are not oily in the slightest, but this stuff...

Like I said, it's very much like suncream in texture, although I can't deny that it is pretty lightweight, like the packaging says.

I think that possibly the worst thing about this moisturiser is the face that the "light reflecting pearls" do more bad than good, in my case anyway. My face just looks greasy (again, like when you apply sun cream) and my pores are ridiculously eccentuated. I swear you can see every nook and cranny and dip in my skin - pores are enhanced, the area on and around my nose looks horrendous.

So on the whole, awful. I'm glad I ordered the sample as it's saved me buying a full sized product and being even more disappointed... Actually I'm pretty disappointed as I was hoping this one would be useful for the spring/summer months, but sadly, it's not.

And another thing, if this is supposed to be for "normal skin",which I have and so I dread to think the effects on already oily skin, but I do wonder what the effects would be for one with dry skin... I suppose it's different for everyone, obviously, but for me this was horrible.

Sexy Leg Tattooes

When looking for a good leg tattoo design, there are two points you need to realize. Actually, they are more like tips, and I will share them with you. There are just too many websites with nothing but generic, cookie cutter designs out there and people are not finding the truly superb artwork. You might want to remember these tips when looking for the leg tattoo design you really want.
leg tattoo

Tip 1 - Always, always take your time when looking for tattoos on the internet. I have seen to many people and read too many horror stories about people getting tattooed with artwork that they end up hating. There are two main reason this happens and could happen to you when looking for a leg tattoo design.

Reason number one is because people are making rushed decisions. This is never a good idea when looking for tattoos, simply because this excitement quickly wears off, but by that time, many people have already ran to the parlor to get tattooed with that piece of art. It is these impulse decisions that come back to haunt many people.

Reason number two is because people want to get tattooed with designs that are "in" or "cool". They find tattoos (in your case it might be a leg tattoo design) that other men and women will think is cool and run to get it inked. They don't take into consideration what they truly want and instead think only about what other people might think about it. In the long run, you are always better off getting a leg tattoo design that "you" truly like and don't let outside influences alter your judgment.

Tip 2 - You are probably looking for a leg tattoo design the wrong way. You are probably saying to yourself, "What does that mean?" Well, it means that the way you are searching for tattoos is probably not leading you to places that have fresh, quality artwork. 95% of people will strictly use search engines, which is most likely the path you are taking also.

If you use them to locate a good leg tattoo design, you will instead get a list of low end galleries and all of these places usually have generic, cookie cutter tattoos. Most people don't even realize this and instead take it for what it is. They think this is all they have to choose form and end up picking one of those generic designs, because all galleries are going to have the same kind of artwork. Not all galleries are stuffed with only generic designs. It's just that this is all search engines show you.

What you need is a better way to find the good leg tattoo design you want. What's the best way to accomplish this? By using internet forums. It's the easiest, most reliable way to find all of the truly great galleries you've been failing to get a hold of. The larger forums are always going to be filled with past topics on the subject of tattoos. To find a good leg tattoo design, simply skim through some of these topics and you will be able to find link after link to some of the better galleries other people have uncovered. It's a fantastic way to work your way to the superb artwork search engines always fail to show you. It's as simple as that

Happy Tattoo Day

Actually, this post from 2012 was originally called Happy Valentine's from Tattoos day! But, it's the 13th, so we can't really use the same title now, can we?

In fact, this is a re-post of a re-post from July of 2008, and it is one of my favorite tattoos from over the years. I'm happy to be re-sharing it with new readers...
Lacking any new material for this holiday o' love, I'm re-posting an old favorite that seems to be in the theme. Well, at least there's a heart in it.
I just love the way, in this photo, that Cait's hand is positioned as she is pulling her blouse back to reveal the whole tattoo...

"I asked her if she'd be willing to share, and she did. She peeled back a little of her top to reveal this beautiful piece on the top left side of her chest:

Cait and her friend Michelle have birthdays two days apart. When they turned 18, they took a design that Michelle had crafted to Da Vinci Tattoo Studio in Wantagh, New York. The artist she remembered as "Yoshi" inked matching pieces for the two.

Cait says the heart that encases the colorful stars represents their friendship, and serves to remind them of the bond. In the event that life ever separates them, the tattoos will link them, no matter where they are.
Work from Da Vinci Tattoo Studio has appeared on Tattoosday before here.
Thanks to Cait for sharing her ink with us here at Tattoosday!
The original post is here.
Here's hoping the day is everything you expect it to be!

Garnier Moisture Match

So today my free samples of the new Garnier Moisture Match range arrived, after only two weeks which I think is pretty decent seeing as samples are limited and so many people have applied for them.

I applied for the "Wake Me Up" moisturiser for dull skin, and so I was suprised that I also got two other samples- "Start Afresh" and "Glow & Protect", which was unexpected but great!

I went ahead and applied the Wake Me Up sample this morning, which is supposed to give your skin that "awake and fresh" look.

Each moisturiser has a different texture... or for want of another phrase, they come in different forms - gel, sorbet and lotion to name a few - which are again tailored for one's individual skin needs.

The Wake Me Up sample is a clear gel, and to me has the same appearance and texture as an alcohol hand sanitiser... At first I felt it was a little oily but once absorbed into the skin it's not oily at all!

There is a very strong fragrance at first, although it is a nice fruity fragrance which does linger for a while but eventually settles - great if you're wearing the moisturiser alone but may be bad news when mixing with other scented products.

I didn't take before and after pictures as there wasn't a change in appearance of my skin in photos, however I can say that my face did feel more awake and certainly looked less dull... it did give me a little glow and the fresh fragrance was great.  As I'm sitting here typing this now, about 20 mins after applying, I can say that my face feels silky smooth too!

I'll probably be posting about one of the other samples that came too -  the "Protect & Glow" sample which has SPF 20 and has light reflecting pearls which "give you that just-got-back-from-the-beach glow", according to the packaging.

All in all though, this Wake Me Up sample was great and I'll probably be buying the full sized product once my current moisturiser is empty.

A Boring Update

Once again I have settled into the feeling of being bored all the time and literally doing nothing. Therefore the past two weeks or so have been as uneventful as an ant's life.

I've been ridiculously hungry all the time recently, eating so much junk and not being able to stop. I'm worried that I'll put weight back on again which I'm determind not to do, especially since I've actually found a work out that works for me. It really sucks when you can't do squats, the best exercise for toning your butt and thighs, when you have creaky knees that can't bear to squat more than three times.

I've actually found someone worth talking to. It's sad but I'd rather socialise online with strangers than with some of the freaks that I know in reality. I've actually found a nice, genuine guy that seems to like me and who hasn't began to randomly ignore me after 3 days of messaging. Sigh.

I really want a long distance pen-pal, actually. I think that after I've published this post I'll head off and find one... I'd love one from America or somewhere, preferably one who spoke decent English, however a Spanish speaking one would be great for practising my espanol, especially with my oral exam in a couple of weeks and reading, writing and listening not long after - eek, dreading these, but not as much as I'm dreading my English language exam, I am shitting bricks for that.

A couple of posts ago I said that since it was spring, I wanted to change certain aspects... my makeup, the way I think... Yeah, nothing's changed. I did experiment with different makeup styles but if I'm honest, they were all too time consuming for me in the mornings. Weirdly, I always feel MORE self conscious when I make an effort with my makeup rather than when I just run a line of eyeliner on my top lid... it's weird.

It's Easter, thank god, meaning that I've got a two week break from sixth form. Luckily I only have about three essays to write, which isn't too bad, but I also have a haul of Spanish vocab and grammar to memorise... My mum thought that she'd give us our Easter eggs today, on Good Friday, rather than on Sunday; not complaining because hey - chocolate - but it's not great when you're constantly trying to diet.

Pros and cons with my hair this month... I have about two inches of dark blonde roots showing which look awful, I'll have to tackle them before this break is over, but this also means that my hair is growing! I looked in the mirror yesterday and for the first time in a while I noticed that it actually looked a little longer than it has done in a long while! Hopefully it'll be at the target length (between my shoulders and jaw) by summer, or at least this year.

It's confirmed that we are in fact getting a new kitten! That's good and bad I suppose, five cats are a lot but KITTENS ARE JUST SO CUTE!!! She won't be ready until the end of April, so I'm thinking that if I fail my Spanish exam, at least I'll have something to look forward to!

Well - that's about it. I'm gonna go now and search for a pen pal. I wanna do the whole "snail mail" thing, sending handwritten letters... I just think it's really cute and different, especially with the technology we have now. It's sometimes nice to get away from the internet and communicate the old fashioned way...

Who am I kidding - I love the internet!

Marilyn Monroe Tattoo

Living in New York City, a metropolis known for its die-hard sports fans, it is not unusual to see tattoos honoring and celebrating the rich athletic tradition that exists here.

On Friday, during my lunch hour, I spotted a New York City Fire Department truck parked at the corner of 40th Street and 7th Avenue. Standing along side it was Johnny, one of New York's bravest, enjoying the warm weather, in shorts, and baring this incredible leg tattoo:

This is, of course, Marilyn Monroe, but with a twist. She is sporting the New York Yankees   jersey of one of the franchise's greatest players, Joe DiMaggio, to whom she was married for less than a year.

Johnny is a huge Yankee fan, and also loves Marilyn Monroe, one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, and among the most popular celebrities tattooed. I have featured Marilyn tattoos previously here and here.

The image is based on a lithograph that Johnny purchased at a FanFest in 1996. After having it tattooed on his right calf, he felt something was missing.

He contacted the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, and purchased an archival photograph of the original Yankee Stadium, circa 1923. This was then used as the source material to create the recognizable backdrop for Marilyn.

Johnny has a ton of tattoos, approximately 15 pieces in all. This one, along with others he has, was created by Cort Bengston at Cort's Royal Ink Tattoo Studio in Patchogue, New York.

Queen Street Tattoo

Back in 2010, Valentine's fell on a Sunday, which provided a excellent opportunity for my lovely wife Melanie to add to her tattoo collection. A lot of shops do special day promotions for the budget-minded, although the trend seems to be moving away from that.

On this Valentine's Day, we here at Tattoosday are re-visiting that occasion three years ago. Please Note: Thicker Than Water, the shop involved, is NOT doing the promotion this year. I did find shops in San Diego (Nittis Tattoo locations) that are doing it this year, but I'm not aware of any NYC-based specials.

So what does an inkblogger get his sweetheart on Valentine's Day?
Why, a love-themed tattoo, of course.
Lucky me, the good folks over at Thicker than Water Tattoo had a Cupid special, $14 tattoos on February 14.

A lot like the Dare Devil Tattoo Friday the 13th Special (one of which is documented here), the lucky tattoo recipient can choose from an assortment of day-themed flash.

Here's what my lovely bride Melanie had to choose from:

When we got to the shop, Melanie signed in #53, and they were averaging a dozen or so per hour, so we knew we had a little bit of a wait.
I specifically selected Shon Lindauer, since he did such an awesome job with my tiger tattoo.
It was nice that Melanie got to meet Shon and the piece she selected was one that he had drawn up.
He tattooed her in the middle of the back and took just about fifteen minutes:

She was very happy with the end result:

When we left around 3:45, the waiting list was over a hundred, so they looked like they had a long night ahead of them.
Thanks to Shon and the staff at Thicker Than Water for another great tattoo experience If you're looking for Shon, he is currently settling down at his new shop, Queen Street Tattoo in Honolulu!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

19 Year Old Amina, Posted Letter Tattoos

Campaigners including Richard Dawkins have called for a day of action to support a young Tunisian woman who appeared to post pictures of herself topless as part of a feminist movement in the country, and was subsequently threatened with death by stoning.

The 19-year-old activist, identified only as Amina, posted on the Femen-Tunisian Facebook page a topless picture of herself with the words “F**k your morals” written across her chest.

Another controversial image followed, of the woman smoking a cigarette, baring her breasts, with the Arabic written across her chest: “My body belongs to me, and is not the source of anyone’s honour”.

Tunisian newspaper Kapitalis quoted the Wahabi Salafi preacher Almi Adel, who heads the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, saying: “The young lady should be punished according to sharia, with 80 to 100 lashes, but [because of] the severity of the act she has committed, she deserves be stoned to death.

“Her act could bring about an epidemic. It could be contagious and give ideas to other women. It is therefore necessary to isolate [the incident]. I wish her to be healed.”

If she committed the offense in Tunisia, Amina could be punished by up to two years in prison and a fine of 100 to 1,000 dinars [between £40 and £400], local media said.

Patiala Salwar | Patiala Trouser | Patiala Salwar Kameez | New Patiala Fashion 2013

Times change so does fashion. It repeats itself after some time with slight changes according to the time.Patiala Shalwar was in last few years and rumors are there in fashion industry that the patiala shalwar could came in fashion in near future as well. Even though several stylish and classy styles of attires are evolved with the time but the conventional and cultural dress patterns still indeed. The Salwar is a very good example of this. While Shalwars are available in many different designs, which create it a little complicated regarding what to select, the conventional design of Patiala Shalwar Kameez Fashion is best for times when one needs to look cultural yet magnificent. Have a look on Patiala Fashion 2013.

rmally patiala shalwar has a number of plates (curves) of different designs. The drop of pleats goes returning and looks like reduce with pleats. Patiala Shalwar is a very solacing shalwar. From top, it has buckle like any other conventional salwar and a lengthy tube for drawstring. The higher section like conventional shalwar is endemic or has a big area for waist and thighs motions.
