Puffy Eye Problems!

I have been having problems with puffy under eyes for the looooOoOoOoOngest time, and it's driving me mad.

I tried to identify the reason why I was getting them. It's not because I sleep late, I go to sleep at 11. It's not because of water retention, I don't drink water two hours before bed and keep my head elevated. It's not too much salt in my diet, because I am dieting and always watch the amount of things like salt. It's not allergies... Okay, it could be allergies (I am allergic to cats, and I have 4), but I am constantly dosed up on antihistamines and so my symptoms only show when I don't take them.

SO WHY?!?!?!?!

Is it just genes? Am I getting the face of a 45 year old woman already? With incurable, fatty under eye bags?

God knows, but it's pissing me off.

I have tried so many things. Like mentioned before, I cut out water before bed and lowered salt intake. I sleep with my head elevated and I make sure I take my meds. It's well known that putting cold teaspoons, cucumber or cold tea bags on the puffy bags reduce the size. You know, this does actually work but only to a small extent. For one, I don't have enough time in the morning to lay down or relax for 10-12 minutes with cucumber or tea bags on my eyes. I would probably just fall asleep again.

For two, like I said, it only works a little bit for me. The puffiness will be reduced but still there and still noticable!

What REALLY annoys me is that every time I search Google for "cure for eye bags" or "puffy eye cures" or something similar, it always comes up with cures for dark circles.

DARK CIRCLES AND UNDER EYE BAGS ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!

Dark circles is discolouration - dark rings beneath the eye. Eye BAGS are what I'm talking about - puffy eyes.

Obviously this is not me. But this is what I mean. Those deep lines there? That's what I have, although not as deep, thankfully. This girl also does have dark eye rings which I think make the puffy eye bags look worse, but essentially those lines are what I have.

I can't cover them up with makeup. It does help with the colour - my under eyes are a weird blue colour, I think this is because I'm so pale and you can just see all the veins and shit because the skin is so thin - but makeup does not help with the appearance. The colour is normal but I still have the lines, and they stay there ALL DAY.

I don't know how it makes me look to others, I don't know if they assume I'm tired, stressed, anxious or whatever, but I can pretty much gather that it doesn't look too great.

Like I mentioned earlier, cold things help as is calms down the puffiness (I did research into how this actually helps but I can't for the life of me remember what it said) and so I had this brainwave.

Cold, I thought. I looked over to my face and body products and noticed the tube of Deep Freeze gel that I used to use for my arthritic joints. Hmmmm...

Yes, I actually did put a small amount under my eye. It was fine for about 10 seconds, but then the cold, tingly sensation set in and it was making my eye water like mad. Didn't hurt but wasn't very comfortable. I washed it off and it was fine after.

I KNOW THIS WAS A STUPID IDEA! Sensitive skin under the eyes and all that, but you know what, it actually worked! I only applied it to one eye, so I could see if there was a difference, and there was. Unfortunatley, mini eye bag was still there but was dramatically reduced from before and compared to the other eye!

It's a shame that it irritated my eye slightly (due to fumes and tingles) because I would have used it as an actual remedy. I don't think I'll be doing it again, just in case it is SUPER dangerous and I'm just too stupid to realise. Don't wanna risk anything...

Typing this now, I'm thinking of the cold spray that I have from the hospital. You just spray it for a few seconds before it frosts over, and then do an injection or insert a needle in that area. The spray is so cold that you focus on the cold rather than the pain from the needle.

Would it be crazy to use the spray...? It wears off after about a minute... There's no irritating chemicals in it...That I know of... And it's super cold...

I don't want to try it in case it is also dangerous but knowing my and my curiosity I will. If I go blind, I have warned myself!

Gaaaaah! Stupid puffy under eye bags.

Tomorrow I'm going to apply cold GREEN tea bags. Green tea is very good for you and so maybe it'll be better for my bags...? I know that it's the tannin and caffine that helps as well as the coldness, but is there more or less tannin in a green tea bag? There's probably less caffine. Will have to look this up.

*Sigh* And so begins my quest for un-puffy eyes.
